Frequently asked questions
Q.What makes a job "safe" from AI in this ranking?
This list ranks occupations by the lowest exposure index. These roles rely on physical presence, hands-on skill, on-site judgment or close personal trust, the parts of work that generative AI reaches least.
Q.Does low exposure mean the job is completely safe?
No. Low exposure means few of the core tasks are ones generative AI can do or is used for. It says nothing about demand for other reasons: some low-exposure occupations are projected to shrink in the US for reasons unrelated to AI. Treat it as lower relative exposure, not a guarantee.
Q.Which qualities tend to protect a job from automation?
Manual dexterity, work in unpredictable physical environments, responsibility for high-stakes decisions, creativity grounded in lived experience, and relationships that depend on human trust all make a role harder for AI to replace.
Q.How often is this ranking updated?
Figures change only when one of the public sources publishes a new edition; the date of the current data is shown on every page.
